Vincent Kember is an emerging multi-disciplinary artist based in Ottawa. He recently completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts with Minor in English at the University of Ottawa. He is a painter who develops and explores connections between literary texts and the painted image. His latest project is the result of a residency at the DAÏMÕN artist-run-centre in Gatineau. The Meridian series takes his work in a new direction by exploring the space between photography and painting. These high-resolution scans of dried paint are also meant to sit uncomfortably between the abstract and the representational. Kember currently teaches highschool English at a private school in Ottawa. While the visual arts are his primary focus, he has also published poetry and runs his own commercial photography business.
